Vehicle Connections
Connect your vehicle to Evnex to enable a more integrated charging experience
Overview
Evnex can connect to some vehicles in order to read their battery State of Charge and provide visibility via our app. In addition, the Action Button on the E2 charger can be configured to trigger vehicle behaviour, such as opening the charging flap or unlocking the cable.
Supported Vehicles
At the moment we only support integrations with Tesla vehicles, but we expect to enable other makes and models in future. If you're keen for us to add your car, let us know the make and model in the message board under Feature Requests and we'll see what we can do!
For now we only support a single vehicle per account, but in future we also expect to be able to connect multiple vehicles into your Evnex account so that you can see states of charge from all of them, and record charging stats against specific vehicles.

Setting up a connection
-
Tap the menu icon in the top left and select "Vehicle Connections", and then the "Connect new vehicle" button. Read the instructions and tap "Grant permissions".
-
This will launch the Tesla website, where you will be prompted to sign in to your Tesla account (note this is private and Evnex cannot see what you type in here), and grant permission for Evnex to view vehicle information and send vehicle commands. Both boxes must be ticked for this to work.
-
If you have more than one Tesla on your account you'll need to tell us which one to connect to. Open the Tesla app and make sure that the target vehicle is shown, and then come back to the Evnex app and tap the name.
-
You will be taken to the Tesla app and asked to approve access for the vehicle. Some users will be required to get in their car and tap the keycard on the centre console. Once you see the success screen you can return to the Evnex app.
-
Your connected car will appear in the list to show connection has been established!
Featured capabilities
Battery state of charge will appear in the charging widget and in notifications.
If you have an E2 charger then the Action Button will automatically be configured to open the flap / unlock the cable (as relevant) when tapped. If you want to override your solar or schedule, you can still hold the button for 1s to activate Charge Now!
Deleting a connection
If you need to delete a vehicle connection then you can swipe it to the left and tap the red delete button. This will delete it from the Evnex database, but to remove the Tesla end you will need to delete it from your car menu under Controls > Locks.
Troubleshooting

- Delete the connection from the Evnex app
- Log into your Tesla account and remove access under Account Settings > Security > Third Party Apps
